December 22 2020 - Bert McCutcheon
I am saddened to not be able to meet over the next several Sundays, because of lockdowns, but I am grateful for you, for technology, that at least gives us some connection, and that God is God.
I want to wish you a wonderful Christmas, and a New Year, that is focused on our Lord. Now more than ever, we must be diligent to keep our eyes on things above and not on earthly things. I repeat again the verse from 1Peter 4:7, "The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.
These are precarious days, with many concerns, but I remind us that our citizenship is in heaven. Look to the Lord! Point others to the Lord! Start this year out with new determination to put Jesus first. May God be praised!
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

- Year End Giving - We give all year long to the work of ministry, because we love God, and His mission to the world, but we are also grateful for a country, that encourages us to give financially. If you give before December 31, 2020 to "not for profit' organizations, which RWC is, you receive a tax receipt that can reduce your taxable income at tax time. I am reminded that I don't give, to the Church, but through the Church. People are ministered to, mission work continues, our facility is maintained, and pastors are supported in their work. Ministry continues as together we honour the Lord in our giving.
- 28 Days of Lockdown but Online (and hardcopy dvds) Continues! - As you know the Ontario Government has mandated a 28 day lockdown, till January 23, 2020. We will not be holding in person services during this time but we will still be providing online services. Pastor Bert will be preaching the message on January 3, 2021 to kick off our new year and 'Believe' will launch the week after that. If you know someone who would benefit from having a dvd of our services delivered to them please let us know!

It is just six more sleeps till Christmas Eve! We don't tend to carry the same enthusiastic expectation of Christmas into our adulthood do we? Life, and all the happenings of life, has a way of tempering our eagerness. The fact is, sometimes Christmas is a painful reminder of loss. Whatever your circumstance is, I want to insert God's equation into your season. No matter how difficult things get, God will make it up to his Children. One day all the sadness, tears, and heartache will be nothing more than distant memories.
Paul tells us in 1Cor. 2:9b ... “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”. In Romans 8:18 he says, "...what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later." Truly, Jesus came and brings us Hope!
Merry Christmas!

P.S. Join us on Christmas Eve, 'In Person' or 'Online'. See you there!
P.S. Don't miss next Sunday, Dec. 27/20. Pastor Paul Kern (Chaplain at Colins Bay Institution) is returning to bring the message to usher in our new year. He will be here, both in Person, and Online.

- Bill C-7 Euthanasia Bill is being expanded! According to 'The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada" Bill C-7 has passed in the House of Commons and is now being debated in the Senate. Some Senators are seeking to expand the bill and remove safeguards such as the exclusion of mental illness as the sole underlying medical condition. The EFC sent a letter quoting a variety of experts to all Senators today urging careful consideration and changes to the bill. A couple weeks ago the EFC’s director of public policy Julia Beazley appeared before the Senate committee and sent a written submission expressing the EFC's opposition to the bill and asking for amendments. Your support is urgently needed. Consider taking a few minutes to call or email the Senators representing your province to ask them to oppose Bill C-7 and euthanasia on the basis of disability. See EFC resources at TheEFC.ca/C-7.
- Covid-19 Vacine. This past week, the very first Vacine for Covid-19, was administered in Canada. Questions are being asked, such as, "Is it safe?", "What does it contain?", "Is this part of the end times?" and more. 1Pet. 4:7 says, "The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray." We want to be wise and discerning in these days.
A few thoughts here. There is no evidence of this vacine, being administered as a mark, that is placed on our head or forearm. It is extremely unlikely to be part of an end time mark, that is spoken of in Revelation. It is not hard to imagine, that technology will be used by wicked people, to oppose Christ, but we do not fear and remain attentive as we serve Christ.
To the question of, "What does the Vacine contain?" I am grateful for the research of the Pro-life, Charlotte Lozier Institute, that lists Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as being "ethically uncontroversial". In other words they do not use fetal cell line, derived from abortions, as some other developers. Note: Canada has engaged 'Pfizer' for the Vacine and this week, 'Moderna's' vacine has been approved for use in the United States. See website:
To the question of safety. As is the case, for most of our medical needs, we put our trust in God, and in health professionals, like our doctors. We live in a time where the seeds of mistrust are sown daily. Ultimately we trust God, and He enables us to move forward with the knowledge that our lives are held in His hands. I would point you, to a Dec. 12/20 online article, by Sarah Pulliam Bailey, interviewing, Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health. I think this article will addresses the issue of the Vacine's safety.
The main thing, is for us to honour God, continue in unity, and to offer the Hope of Christ who no "miracle'" vacine can replace. He is our Hope. May we be patient with one another and guard unity between us at all cost. Jesus said in John 13:35, "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

The following short story, reminds us that God wants to change our perspective in the midst of difficult days. (even Covid-19 days)
"Surprised by Joy" by Author, Henri J. M. Nouwen .
The great challenge of faith is to be surprised by joy. I remember sitting at a dinner table with friends discussing the economic depression of the country. We kept throwing out statistics that made us increasingly convinced that things could only get worse.
Then, suddenly, the four-year-old son of one my friends opened the door, ran to his father, and said, “Look, Daddy! Look! I found a little kitten in the yard . . . Look! . . . Isn’t she cute?”
While showing the kitten to his father, the little boy stroked the kitten with his hands and held it against his face. All at once everything changed. The little boy and his kitten became the center of attention. There were smiles, strokes, and many tender words. We were surprised by joy!
May God surprise you with Joy this coming week!,

This week, our online, "In the News for Prayer", highlights the upcoming Euthenasia Bill, (Bill C-7) that is going before Commons this month. Bill C-7 seeks to extend access to MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying), to the disabled community, and much of that community is against it, contrary to popular opinion. You can see the EFC video on the topic during our broadcast this Sunday or go to www.evangelicalfellowship.ca to find out more.
Pray for our national leaders, EFC, the disabled community, our doctors, nurses, and hospital administrators as they face this moral issue daily.
Our 'Believe' theme this week is 'Eternity', and it highlights one of the reasons we choose life over death. It is vital that we proclaim the truth that our spirit lives on after we die, and that there is an accountability, that we each must face.
Praying,
Pastor Bert

The weekly scripture readings from 'Believe' are soooooo good! (Yes I know it is God's Word!). Reading these scriptures in light of the themes of Humanity, Compassion, and this coming week, Stewardship, helps us see the heart of God. This morning I felt like I was seeing the scriptures in a brand new way. Just two more weeks, a Christmas break then, 'Believe' Part two, 'The Practices of the Christian Life'. I can't wait!!!

Our 'Believe' focus this week is on Compassion. I see this as a vital issue, for us as a church, to wrestle with. God throughout the Old Testament, showed compassion to His people, and Jesus certainly modelled compassion in his earthly ministry. What makes this an important topic is working out the concept of Compassion, 'in Jesus Name'. There are secular agencies working to eradicate world hunger, why not just work through them exclusively? It is because, as believers, our Lord Jesus, touched the physical and the spiritual.
Every act of kindness includes the glorious message of God's love. Do we force this message on people! Of course not. (Jesus never forced it on us!) We give, because Jesus gives. We love, because Jesus loved. People are valuable to God and therefore they are valuable to us. May God help us live out compassion, less as a concept, and more as an action, in our everyday lives, as we touch people 'in Jesus name!' "Lord, help us to be known as people of Compassion!"

- Kingswood Intern to Join RWC in January! Kingswood Student, Seth Rollins will be joining the staff from January through April, 2021. Seth, a native of Belleville, actually attended RWC youth group, for a time, "back in the day". He is a pastoral ministry major, who likes building relationships with people. He is excited to come and we are excited to welcome him. Pray for Seth as acquires his first car. (He will be commuting from his family home in Belleville) Also pray for him, as he navigates the Covid related guidelines of quarantine time, before joining us.
- Calling All Scripture Readers! We have had a trickle response, thus far, of volunteers to read Advent Scriptures, online, this December. Our goal is to read all 24 Chapters of Luke and publish them for each day of Advent! Email us at: roblinwc@gmail.com or personal to Pastor Bert or Brock.
- Safety and Our Services: We are continuing to be diligent with safety protocols as we meet each weekend. We are wearing masks in our public services, doing a short health questionnaire, and contact tracking. There are 28 sitting stations set up across our auditorium (mostly at tables) so that we are naturally distanced.

I just received a text yesterday that simple said, "I'm loving Believe"! The topic of 'Humanity' starts Sunday, in week seven, and 'Compassion' the following week. We will see what God says about the human condition, and what our response, to people, is to be. Once we complete the 'Think' section of 'Believe', we will take a few weeks off, in December, before we start the 'Do' or 'Act' section. For all you 'scripture memorizers' out there, "Don't give up", it is worth pushing those brain cells! We are hiding God's Word in our hearts!

Are you thinking? We are in the fifth week of our 10 week 'Think' portion of 'Believe' and today we are thinking about, "Our Identity in Christ". John tells us who we are in John 1:12. You are a child of God if you have placed your faith in Christ.
I encourage you to allow God's Word, to sink into your soul, by reading, the chapter five scriptures, in 'Believe' and let the Spirit of God bathe you, with the reality, of who God has made you to be. When we know who we are it changes everything!

- Communion Next Week: Next Sunday, Nov. 8, we will be participating in communion together. We are using individually wrapped packets for safety sake. For you at home, please let us know, if you would like us to drop off one of the communion packets, or, you are welcome to prepare your own bread and drink. We will be partaking together online as well.
- Supporting the Chapmans: Under normal circumstances, missionaries, Mike and Angela Chapman would have been with us this weekend in our services. We financially support, this wonderful couple, in their ministry to the Karis people in Asia. (Angela is daughter to Dave and Kathy Daw, of the singing group, "The Proverbs" from Westport Ontario.) Would you consider adding a financial gift for the Chapmans to your regular giving, to go toward their support? Our goal is a minimum of $1,500.00.
- New Scripture Memory Packs: For those who have joined the "Pastor's Scripture Memory Challenge", more adult card packs have arrived with all 30 scriptures and themes for the year. We now, also have, a 30 card pack for children. See our resource table at RWC or contact us to receive yours. (Packs: $5 for Adult and $3 for Child). It is early in our 'Believe' series so let's kick those brain cells into gear and get God's Word into our hearts!
October 23, 2020 - Bert McCutcheon
It is not surprising, but I have noticed, in my dialoguing with people, that there is a deep propensity toward discouragement and unrest, in this particular Fall season. There are several obvious reasons, not the least of which, by the way, is that we have a spiritual enemy who wants to destroy us, and keep us from trusting God! That has always been the case, but right now, the enemy has some extra fuel to pour on the fire.
Why We Are Vulnerable To Discouragement And What We Can Do To Combat It
By Bert McCutcheon,
Why are we more vulnerable to discouragement at this time.
I. Our daily, weekly, and seasonal routines have changed.
I never realized how much I relied on routines in my daily life. There are many things, that I never had to think about, because of established patterns of behaviour, that, I now, have to give mental energy to. Everything is different right now. Shopping, socializing, going to church, not going to church, school, hospital visits, vacation times, our work, our boss, daily memos from our boss, the news, our conversations with people, and the list goes on and on. It just feels exhausting
II. Christmas is coming and it is really hard to make plans.
Ithink Thanksgiving was a partial hinge point in this whole Covid-19 thing. We hoped(though inwardly we knew differently) that we would be past the shadow of Covid. But the shadow is still there, and if anything, it is a bit worse!
A year ago my wife's family gathered, from afar, here in Roblin for Thanksgiving. Not this year. Last year my family had a lovely meal together. It partially happened this year; an outside campfire, because inside was frowned upon. Only half could attend, because they were from out of town, and mixing communities is not the wisest thing to do these days.
So now, we are looking forward to Christmas, with a bit of a sigh (as far as family connections are concerned) It is a lot harder to have a meal around a campfire in December, and the present curve, is not promising for a, 'thumbs up' from Premier Ford to enlarge our bubbles.
III. Much of what is happening is beyond our control
I don't love wearing a mask, but it isn't a big deal, really. (I figure I will have a better chance of avoiding the cold, flue bugs, and Covid). I think the issue is more about control, or lack of it. I, like you, have seen the tensions over mask wearing. Some are militant wearers and others 'not so much''. They can be a nuisance at times. (especially when you walk all the way to the front door of the grocery store, on the day you decided to park further away for exercise sake, only to remember that you left your mask on the front seat of the car! Yikes!!) The issue is more about what masks represent. They act as this huge, constant, reminder, that "This thing is outside of my control!"
IV. Relationships are being tested ... and often end up with a C-.
We are staying home more. We don't socialize to the same extent. We don't kiss or hug. We stand 6 feet apart. All of this is wearing us down. At the best of times the enemy tells us we are not loved, and that no one cares. Like ‘our Joe’ used to flippantly say, when anything went wrong, "I'm gonna' die alone." I am finding that even my very closest relationships are more difficult to maintain and nurture, and that can feel really depressing, and the whole ‘guilt trip’ thing kicks in because we often end up isolating, and insulating, ourselves, rather then reaching out to those friends.
V. The enemy is working harder than ever, because his time is running out.
I must admit that, I don't have a lot of patience for the 'prophesy of the day' style ministries that flourish every time something bad happens in the world. I find it is way too easy to connect dots, that may, or may not, be relevant to the Bible and God's agenda. I also find Christians can develop a ‘Debbie Downer Demeanour’ (say that 10 times) when it comes to living life down here. However, prophetically speaking, I would have to be blind, to not see signs, that we are closer to the return of Jesus. Luke 18:8b says, "...when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, ... do not give up". The deceiver, the devil, wants to tear us from God, and he only has so much time to do it. His time is getting shorter. We are in a spiritual war. (Eph. 6:12). If Satan can discourage us, and keep us from reaching out, or keep us from reading our Bibles, or keep us from talking to God, he will.
Here are some vital ways to combat discouragement. (Prepare yourself for some basic, old fashioned, common sense, down to earth suggestions.
I. Connect to God every day.
The next time your are discouraged, what if you said, "Ok the fight is on, and Satan, you are not going to win, because of discouragement; because from now on, discouragement is going to drive me to my knees!" We may have social distancing measures in place with people, but not with God. Jesus often rose early, to be with the Father. He often 'took off' with his disciples, when there was lots of ministry, still to be done, to get away. These are dark days, but the Bible says in Psalms 119:105 that, God's "Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." God's Word speaks into our discouragement like nothing else can. We must take time to quiet ourselves before the Lord. The world is swirling around us. If there was ever a time that we needed to practice Psalms 46:10 it is now. "Be still, and know that I am God..." There is nourishment, for our souls, when we connect to the Lord. The five foolish virgins in Matthew 25, ran out of oil when the bridegroom returned. That oil is replenished when we enter into active fellowship with God.
II. Talk to somebody.
We may not be able to touch, but we can still talk, and talk we must. Rick Warren says, "If you don't 'talk' it out, you will 'take' it out on your body." Hangups, and destructive habits, thrive in the soil of isolation. We have to reach out to one another. This is hard, for some, because of social anxiety, but we have to do it. The bible says, in James 5:16 , “…confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. …”. What if your release, from discouragement, is waiting for that conversation that is yet to happen? God made us for communion with others. We were not meant to do this thing alone and, if we are honest, we often do. Talk to somebody today. (Not just about sports, the weather, or politics)
III. Keep meeting with God’s people even thought we are restricted.
There is healing in community. There is a reason Hebrews 10:25 says, to not give up meeting together. (This is not a pitch to force people to return to Sunday a.m. ‘in person’ gatherings.). This is a plea to stay connected to God’s people. When you log on to watch our weekly services, why not send out comments, to others who are watching. Maybe you could gather with your own ‘Bubble’, to watch together. You can even put your friends on speaker phone while you watch and listen together. There have never been more creative ways available to meet, when you can’t meet in person, then there are now. The point is, we must connect with other people, who are seeking after God, and we must find ways to worship as part of the “Body of Christ.”
IV. Find a need and fill it.
I find that the needs I see most quickly, are the needs I feel most keenly This means that my understanding, of that need, and the accompanying negative emotion, is really high. Who better, to reach out to others, who have this same struggle, then me. We are told in 1 Corinthians 10:13, that temptations we face are common to others. If you are experiencing it so is someone else. There is nothing more fulfilling than reaching out, and filling a need. The sense of satisfaction, along with that surge of endorphin will do wonders in helping us be overcomers, when we feel like we are being overcome!
The temptation to discouragement is really high right now. We must not allow ourselves to be circumstantially controlled. Let’s connect with God, talk to other believers, continue to worship together, and serve one another. With God’s help you can overcome that horrible feeling of discouragement!

Some Important Stuff!
- You may have noticed, that Pastor Bert did not wear a mask, while he preached last Sunday. The KFL&A guidelines published a new guideline requiring the speaker to wear a mask on Wednesday of last week, but then published an adjustment for, places of worship, allowing the speaker to remove his or her mask, as long as the, 4 meter distancing is in place, and the platform is not accessible by the public. ie attenders in our case. Many places are not allowing singing. We are singing, but have limited standing while singing, and have sought to lead more meditative songs, so as not to overly encourage projection of those ‘liquid droplets’. We are still required as a body to wear masks.
- We hope you had a chance to look at our financial giving update last week. God has blessed us with faithful givers, yet we are still behind, as of the end of September, around $20,000, in our operating budget, and our mission budget since May 1. It is not uncommon to be short, after the summer months, but we want to be diligent moving forward. Note: Some may feel to contribute toward our new media equipment purchases. Pastor Brock is doing a great job leading this new ministry, since the beginning of Covid. You can blame him for the extra (but very needed) equipment purchases. (Ha - always blame the new guy!)
- Our food cupboard is pretty sparse at the church. We have given out many food bags since Covid began. If you think of it, please consider giving a bit extra to go toward this very practical need in these days. .. either food or money for grocery cards. (If you know someone who needs food assistance please let us know.)
- This Sunday is the launch of a new online segment in our weekly service broadcast called, “In the News for Prayer”. This is an attempt to prompt us, to be informed, and to be in prayer as a church. May God teach us how to pray in these days of turmoil. (We will be showing this prayer segment in our inperson gatherings, as well, on the weekend.)
- Today’s, Pastor’s Desk, was about discouragement. Pray for those who are discouraged. Pray for emotional energy, and spiritual discernment for your pastors as they dialogue with various individuals who are deeply affected by life’s struggles. Consider reaching out to someone, that God brings to mind, to offer a word of encouragement, be a listening ear, send a card or note or encouragement, or give them a gift of food, flowers, etc..
- We had announced, that a water baptism was taking place this Sunday, October 25/20. It is still in the works, but it had to be postponed. There are at least two people in preparation right now to be baptized. TBD
October 15, 2020 - Bert McCutcheon
Be encouraged. There may be extra challenges, because of this Pandemic, but God isn’t finished building His Church. (As of this week KFL&A now requires everyone, including the speaker, to wear a mask during public gatherings.) This is a small thing in the big picture I know.
The main thing is that we are meeting, learning, praising, and encouraging one another, whether in person, or online. This is not the time, to let down your guard spiritually. 1Pet. 5:8 tells us to, "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
If you are facing discouragement, make sure to reach out to someone, in person, by phone, or through media. Continue to encourage one another. Take extra time to quiet yourself before the Lord. Use our present series, ‘Believe’ as a tool for learning and spiritual growth. It is filled with scripture and insight.
Keep On!

Important Stuff!
Services: We are now up and running with three weekend, ‘in person’ services, and our online broadcast. If you have families with young people, you may want to try our Saturday, 6 p.m. Family Oriented/Kid Friendly service.
Believe: We are encouraged, by the number of people engaging in this spiritual journey. Books for ‘Believe’, will continue to be available at the church for $10 each or what you can afford. (We do delivery!). This weekend is Week 3 in the series. The focus is on Salvation. Pray for someone, in your sphere of influence, that they will come to know Jesus!
Staffing: We are so grateful for Pastor Paul’s ministry over the past 17 years, and pray for his ministry, as a Prison Chaplain moving forward. So glad that he and Nancy, will still be part of our fellowship. He will be greatly missed, as part of our pastoral staff. I shared with our LBA on Tuesday night, that I will not be recommending a staff replacement at this time. This is a time to continue ministry, and weather this present pandemic storm.
Weekly Multi-Media Team: Pastor Brock and the team are working diligently, to bring quality, to our weekly online services, and it shows. This week, it was great to see Angela McTaggart, join the team, as a video switcher, along with Brock, Dan, Isaiah, Kris & April. Note: If you have interest, and aptitude, for this important, multi-media ministry, please speak to Pastor Brock.
Parkway Church: Continue to pray for Pastor Dusty and ’The Parkway Church’ plant in Amherstview. They were able to meet last Sunday at, The Ambassador Hotel, for one service. (I know they had 105 people registered before the event!) They will continue their Online Ministries, and small group connections. The lack of a meeting facility is challenging, but it certainly shows that the church is not just a location, but a people. We are praying and pulling for you guys!

In Person Service Launch this week - In three days we launch our first, 'back in person’ service, at the church. We have done all we can, to follow safety protocols, laid out by our region, so whether you attend in person, or online, we look forward to meeting together.
We have posted a Q & A on our website about the preparations we have made to meet in person.

The main resources is, the hardcover book, “Believe” that has all 30 chapters (for the year) with Key Scriptures and Key Ideas for that week. These are $10 and are available at the church. You can also email us and we will make sure you get your copy!
YouTube Broadcasting - Our Tech team is working diligently, to continue upgrading the quality, of our weekly online broadcast. We have moved back into our church studio from the outdoor 'Drive In' location. We will now broadcast to ‘YouTube’, and will continue to premiere the service at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Note: It is important that we have as many people as possible click ‘Subscribe’ on our YouTube page to receive further broadcasting benefits. Go to Roblin Wesleyan and hit subscribe.
DVD Ministry - We are also launching a dvd ministry, for those who don’t have access to internet. This will also assist in shut in ministry, and nursing home ministries. Let us know if someone you know would benefit from receiving our services in this manner.
Deeper … Wider - You are going to hear, more and more, this simple reminder about our desire as a church. May God take us Deeper, in His Love and Wider, to His World.

P.S. I am enclosing here, again, the email that was sent out earlier this week concerning the new ministry that God has called Pastor Paul too, just in case you missed it. Note: Pastor Paul will be giving a short testimonial, about how God has brought him to this ministry, in our Sunday services. (Both in person and online.)

I wish to announce that Pastor Paul DeMerchant has been accepted as a full time Chaplain at the Bath Correctional Institution near Kingston. He will begin this new ministry on October 13, 2020. This of course means that Pastor Paul will not be continuing in his present role on staff at RWC.
We are proud of Pastor Paul and can see God’s hand, in this new direction of ministry. Paul has served faithfully at RWC for almost 18 years and will be greatly missed. Besides his work with small groups, discipleship classes, follow up and visitation, Sunday School, kids ministry, preaching, ministry recruitment, staff involvement and more, he will be missed for his oversight of dozens of background tasks that run smoothly because of his involvement. We are thrilled that Pastor Paul and Nancy will still be part of our community, and we are praying for them as they enter this new field of service in the Kingdom.
Pray for RWC as we continue ministry in this Covid-19 season. May God continue to form us as a people into His Likeness!

Though not mandatory, it will greatly enhance the journey. Note: The book “Think, Act, Do, by Randy Frazee as well as a scripture memory pack is also available for purchase, for you keeners out there!

In spite of set backs, these as days of incredible opportunity for ministry. In the world there is confusion, anxiety, and fear, but we serve a God who has not been surprised by any of the events of these last several months. Now, as much as ever, we will continue to proclaim the good news of Jesus and reach out in His name as we seek God’s heart for growth and healing together.
Please pray for us as we prepare for re-opening, and pray about the timing for you, and your family, to re-gather with us.

These may be challenging times but they are also exciting times. The harvest is ripe and the methods, and tools to reach out, are vast.
God has entrusted us with a ministry in the Greater Napanee / Lennox & Addington area, that is worth our time, finances, and sacrifice! There are 15,892 people in Greater Napanee (not counting neighbouring municipalities). The harvest is plentiful and He has raised up labourers to the task. May the Lord enable us to enlarge His Kingdom in this little corner of His vast garden! May we go “Deeper and Wider” with God and to people.
Pastor Brock’s Ordination
We are proud of Pastor Brock and Kim. Pastor Brock was ordained as Reverend Brock MacDonald on Sunday evening August 23rd at our Camping Ministry site, north of Roblin. It was the first time the Central Canada District held a "Drive In" ordination service. Rev. Brian Carswell (Trenton Wesleyan) preached the ordination message. Pastor Bert and Paul opened and lead worship, Rev. Krista Shaver led the ordination council as chair of the District Board of Ministerial Development. Rev. Rob MacCullum (Kingston Standard Wesleyan) read scripture and Rev. Craig Peters (Brock's Uncle and Pastor of Polson Park Free Methodist Church) laid hands on Brock and his wife Kim during the prayer of ordination by District Superintendent, Dr. Eric Hallett.
Pastor Andrew (Summer Intern) Completes 15 weeks of Ministry at RWC.
This week we sent Pastor Andrew Ross on his way, back to Nova Scotia, for his mandatory 14 day quarantine time. This was a unique summer for Andrew, but he found his way, and was blessed, and was a blessing to us. Pastor Andrew has been a key player in our launch of 'Drive In’ Services, with a special emphasis on our AM Radio send. Even though our public meetings were limited because of Covid-19, many of you were able to meet him in person during our Father’s Day deliveries in June. Pray for Andrew as he takes the next steps in ministry. If you feel to express your thanks to Andrew with a financial gift we will pass it on to him as he continues to serve the Lord. Thank you for allowing RWC to be a place of preparation for ministry. Note: Special thanks go to Rick Poulin, Pastor Brock and Kim, and Jeff and Monika Cook for providing housing for Andrew during this challenging time.
Sunday Service “Drive Ins’ at our Camp Grounds Continue
We are continuing to be blessed by meeting as a “Drive In” service each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.. God has been meeting with us. Our tech team are doing an incredible job working the bugs out of the many challenges, to seeing and hearing, both in car and at home. Pray for us as we prepare to launch our first “Back to Church” services on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Lots more info. to come!
Technology Upgrades
Pastor Brock, along with being designated Youth Pastor is also giving attention to our media ministry. We look forward to receiving our much needed cameras and switcher equipment in the next couple of weeks. (We are presently using, short term, donated, rentals for our online broadcasting). This kind of equipment isn’t cheap. If you feel to give toward these unique ministry expenses please etransfer to "roblinwc@gmail.com"
Keep Encouraged in the Lord!
Pastor Bert
P.S. If you would like us (one of your pastors) to drop by for prayer or encouragement, please contact us. “roblinwc@gmail.com” or 613-532-7927.

August Services at the Camp! We will be gathering each Sunday for the month of August, at our Camp Grounds on the north side of Roblin! Yes, we are launching our first, in person service, in three weeks, on Sunday, August 2, 2020! This part "Drive In", part, "Tabernacle service", will still be required to follow safety protocols because of Covid-19, so masks will be required for those in the Tabernacle, with 30% occupancy and social distancing in place. Those who remain in their cars can listen on their radios or simply put their window down.
Mark your calendars for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 21 to 23, 2020. We are planning three days of special services at our camp, culminating in the District Ordination of Pastor Brock MacDonald. These on site, Drive In and Tabernacle services, will feature special speakers, Pastor Jason, McCutcheon from Laurentian Wesleyan Church in North Bay, Pastor Krista Shaver, formerly from Newington Wesleyan, and Pastor Brian Carswell from Trenton Wesleyan. Pray that God speaks to us during these three days of camp.
Heading back to Church! On September 13, 2020 we are planning on returning to Sunday Services at RWC. We will be announcing service times, and giving instruction about how these services will be run, in the days to come.
God is blessing our Finances but we need to continue to be diligent! We have been blessed by your faithfulness in giving throughout these last four months. June saw a slight shortfall in giving and now we have entered July and August, that typically experience a slight giving downfall. For some, these have been trying days financially. We pray that God gives you energy, wisdom, and provision as you honour Him.
Media Team doing a Great Job! I wish to thank the media team, for the great job they are doing each week, broadcasting our services on Facebook and YouTube. We are slowly purchasing some much needed equipment, and have designated a portion of Pastor Brock’s duties to overseeing this Media ministry. Pray for this new ministry as it continues to expand, both now, and in the weeks to come.
These are not easy days but God is faithful. There are several who have reached out to ask for prayer, a visit, or special resources, and we invite you to do that same. The temptation to be discouraged can be great but allow me to remind you of 1John 4:4b “...greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Keep On!
Pastor Bert
P.S. We have been blessed to have Andrew Ross with us as a summer Student. His initial housing situation is soon coming to a close. If you, or someone you know, is open to boarding Pastor Andrew till the end of August, please contact us at the church. Note: A small, weekly stipend is available, to help cover costs.

July 2, 2020 - Bert McCutcheon
We certainly have to be flexible these days. Our first plans to re-gather with, ‘Drive In Services’, was postponed because of the recent Covid-19 cases in Kingston. This 20+ person outbreak caused there to be an immediate stiffening of procedures for gathering and we had at least five people, that we know of, who were potentially exposed and had to be tested. We have pressed the pause button on meeting in person.
Our regular Online Sunday Service Broadcast will resume this week. Pastor Paul is speaking a follow up message to Pastor Bert’s message from 2 Chronicles 20:12 and Pastor Brock will be leading worship.
Ministry Continues During Pandemic
On Monday, RWC's new Handy Man (person) ministry, under the direction of Gary and Angela Miller, reached out to tackle a significant drive way sealing project for a couple who are physically unable to do this yearly maintenance. Gary called it an, “Outdoor, Socially Distanced, Drive Way Sealing, Fellowship Ministry”. It was hot work, but a 7 a.m. start, with 7 eager volunteers working together, reduced the time to just under four hours. They shared an outdoor lunch, with the couple, and took time to pray and anoint the couple for specific healing. Just being able to sit and eat together outside brought wonderful encouragement after these many weeks of isolation. Our summer student, Andrew Ross, also got in on the day.
Please continue to pray for us as we put together a future reopening plan that keeps everyone safe, honours our community, and above all honours the Lord! Also pray for our camping ministry as we seek wisdom in how to reach out this summer.

We look forward to our very first ‘Drive In’ service this Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at RWC!
What can you expect?
We will hold our second “Drive In Service’ on Sunday, July 5, 2020. Pray for us as we seek to discern the next steps for meeting, ie Continue Drive In Services?, Hold multiple Services with sign ups?, Meet in multiple locations? etc.
Note: We will be continuing our 10:30 a.m. broadcast indefinitely.
Challenges …. Opportunities,
Pastor Bert
What can you expect?
- Parking attendants to greet and help park your car (facing our outdoor platform) at safe distances from one another
- A ‘Car Windows' up or down experience. We will be broadcasting live across the grounds as well as through an a.m. Radio frequency.
- A one hour service. (This is our first 'Drive In Service' so we are seeking to be sensitive to weather conditions, and your comfort)

Looking forward we have some beautiful times of connection ahead of us!
This coming Sunday is Father’s Day. Our service will once again be broadcast at 10:30 a.m., on Facebook and YouTube. This week our Summer Intern Andrew Ross will be bringing the morning message.
In two weeks, on Sunday, June 28 we will be holding our first “Outdoor / Drive In Service” here on the property of RWC! Our service will run from 10:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. and will include a message from myself (Pastor Bert) and music worship lead by Pastor Brock and the worship team. We are continuing to be careful, by supervising traffic of washroom use and will be distancing cars so that you choose to remain in your car, or can bring lawn chairs to sit beside your car with your family. Sound will be broadcast across the grounds as well as through an a.m. frequency to your car radio (for those feeling to remain in their vehicle). A trained parking lot team will greet and direct you as you arrive.
We will be holding our second “Outdoor / Drive In Service” the very next Sunday, July 5 as well with Pastor Paul bringing the message and Tammy Webster and team leading our music worship time.
There are several benefits to meeting outdoors:
One question that is being asked is, “Will we continue broadcasting our services online once we begin to meet again in person?” The answer is yes. Through Covid-19 God has birthed a whole new outreach through our online presence. Every week we receive news of people who are tuning in to our services who do not attend a church elsewhere. Pastor Brock, who has just been brought on full time, is our Youth and Media Pastor. We will continue to develop this media ministry as God leads.
These are exciting days. We hope you will log into our service this coming Sunday and plan to attend in person (In Vehicle!!!) on June 28 and July 5!
Be Blessed,
Pastor Bert

- We are giving people the opportunity to remain in their vehicle for safety concerns.
- We are not limited in being able to invite anyone to attend. (The 30% occupancy limit does not apply outside).
- We don’t have to hold three services and figure out 'who comes when' to a more than half empty auditorium with stringent social distancing measures in place.
- It gives us more time to prepare our building for reentry. ie we are presently cleaning and doing paint retouches!

This past week Ontario’s Premier once again extended the Covid-19 emergency measures; now till the end of of June. We are approaching the three month mark. This has not been an easy time but God is teaching us. Here are some things that I am learning. (Relearning)

P.S. Our summer Student, Andrew Ross, is presently in his 14 days of isolation. (He comes to us from Nova Scotia) God has provided a residence for at least the first five weeks of his 14 week stay. Pray for a Andrew and his time with us!
"The church shines brightest when the world is darkest!" - Jason Berry
- The Church is a people, not a place.
- Challenges bring opportunity. This week I, once again, had a conversations with person who watches our service online who does not attend church anywhere.
- Staying connected takes effort. We need one another. People connections are important, and I see how easy it is to become isolated. (Especially when you are ordered to be isolated by your province!)
- God works through disruption and so does Satan. I have had some of my most beautiful God moments during this time and some of my most difficult spiritual attacks.
- Emotional Health is a vital component to my spiritual health. Some of my greatest battles have been emotional battles. Emotions of fear, frustration, anger, or anxiety have serious effects on my moods and also effect my daily walk with God.
- I realize the importance of routine and structure in my life. Many of my daily and weekly routines have been obliterated by this Covid thing! I have had to build new routines into my schedule that assist me in being productive and healthy.
- It takes intentionality to stay healthy physically, emotionally, and spiritually. John Maxwell’s words come back to me, “Everything worthwhile in life is uphill from here.”
- Prayer is my continual spiritual health alignment.

- Tonight is the launch of online “Alpha” (see link below)
- Pastor Paul will lead our Wed. 6:30 p.m., "Prayer Zoom connect" that is focused on frontline and first responders. (See link below)
- Pentecost Sunday is this week. Pray for a fresh move of God’s Spirit in our church and community.
- Don’t forget the Denomination Wide, Wesleyan Prayer Event this Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.. May we never underestimate the importances of these prayer connection events in these challenging days!
- Our summer Intern, Andrew Ross from Nova Scotia, arrives next Monday, June 1/20 for his mandatory 14 days of quarantine (which we have lodging in place for) following his quaratine he will need a place to stay. By June 14 we will need to finalize his lodging for the summer. If you or someone you know has a lodging situation that would work for Andrew, please let us know. A small weekly stipend will be available to the host family to offset costs.

We want to keep communication channels open with you. The present reopening of Ontario is making some progress, but indicators say that it will be some time before we are able to meet in person with larger groups. We pray that our weekly online Service, is honouring to God, connecting to you and your family, and is engaging our community. This is a great opportunity to invite someone to engage with our services, from the comfort of their own home, who would not normally attend.
Covid-19 has created enormous disruptions in our lives. This is not an easy time for many of us. I want to encourage you, that God works in the midst of disruption. In fact sometimes the Spirit of God seems to get our attention the most during hard times. Throughout history the church has grown during times of pressure and we are praying for the same today.
Please reach out to someone for prayer support if you are hurting. We (your Pastors) are here for you as well, and would love to pray with you.

- Turn to the Lord everyday in Prayer and the Word.
- Reach out to another brother and sister in Christ to encourage, and be encouraged.
- Live with a readiness and expectation for the return of the Lord. Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 24:42 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and ladies of RWC! Each year I reflect, with even deeper appreciation, on the ladies who have influenced my life, and of course especially my own mother. May this weekend be an encouragement to you all!
Joel Gorveatte the pastor of the Moncton Wesleyan Church in New Brunswick says, "Don't deny or obey your feelings - pray your feelings.”
What a powerful, and succinct, way to remind us of Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Our feelings can get us into a lot of trouble, and there is no shortage of them these days. Temptations flourish when feelings are stuffed and ignored, and temptations flourish when feelings are dwelt upon. The hymn writer, Edmund S. Lorenz, got it right when he wrote, "Are you weary, are you heavy-hearted? Tell it to Jesus.”
Let’s talk to Jesus!
Pastor Bert
P.S. Keeping you in the Loop...
- We want to thank you, and thank God, for the upswing of financial giving in the month of April. March was a difficult month for us, and for many of you, financially. It took us a while to find our online giving methods and to adapt to not meeting every week, but many of you did and we were able to end our fiscal year in reasonable shape. Note: Next week we will offer a financial year end report.
- This Sunday will be our 8th online service and we wouldn’t have been able to come this far without the hard work of Kris Morey in recording, editing, and posting the various pieces of these services. Thank you Kris. (And thank you Leanne!)
- I want to thank Kim MacDonald for sharing the message this coming Sunday and Nancy and Dawn for leading our music and worship. (Ha - seems wrong that your three Pastors get this service off and our wives have to work on Mother’s Day!!!!)
- Each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. we will be holding a half hour ‘Zoom' Prayer Meeting online. Join as you are able and feel free to share prayer requests either on our RWC Facebook Prayer group or send them to us at roblinwc@gmail.com.

We are now preparing for our 7th online service. We entered the online world at a drastically accelerated pace and God is using it. We will meet again physically, but we will never be the same. The online congregation that is being reached is beautiful and God will call us to be stewards of this online ministry long after the meeting restrictions are removed. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to honour God in our weekly, online, services.
These are days of refining for us!
May God’s Holy Spirit fill us to overflowing as we submit ourselves to his refining. God is building His Church!
Pastor Bert
Invitation: Wednesday night, May 6, 2020 at 7 p.m. we will be holding our second online (Zoom) Prayer meeting, but this time we will be partaking of communion together as well. Join as you are able! We had 18 households join us for our first prayer (Zoom) meeting. More information below.
Invitation: Mother’s Day is coming Next Sunday, May 10, 2020. I have asked Mrs. Kim MacDonald (Pastor Brock’s wife and our children’s leader) to bring the morning message on that day. We have some special things planned for that broadcast that we believe God wants to use to encourage you and honour our Mothers.
These are days of refining for us!
- God is calling us into deeper relationship with Himself.
- He is causing us to keep our eyes more keenly open to the signs of Christ’s return.
- We are motivated to share our faith in Christ. As a vaccine is being sought after, for this virus, we already have the cure for the separating sin that keeps us from God. Separation from God is far worse than Covid-19.
- Our priorities are being challenged. We are wrestling with what is really important in life and faith.
- We are discovering that the Church is far more than a physical location; it is a body of believers bound together in Love.
- We are developing deeper gratitude and appreciation for our family and friends.
May God’s Holy Spirit fill us to overflowing as we submit ourselves to his refining. God is building His Church!

Thursday, April 16, 2020 - Bert McCutcheon
In these days, let's continually remember that God is able and God is working. He will use these difficult circumstances in the world to draw us closer to himself. We are also aware that Satan uses difficult days like these. The hearts of men and women often fail them because of fear, grief, and hopelessness. If there was ever a time for us to know and proclaim that Jesus is our Hope, it is now!
I would like to call us, as a body, to prayer.
Joel 2:15 says, "Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.” The nation of Israel was facing an invasion that threatened to destroy them so they gathered, prayed, fasted, repented and sought the Lord. Our World has been invaded by this virus and we need the Lord
First, I would like us to assemble online. All, who are able, are invited to join us for a church wide ‘Zoom Meeting' prayer and praise time, next Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 7 p.m. We will intersperse songs of worship with specific, focused, times of prayer for world, community, church, and family. Your pastors will speak some words from scripture and we will hear from several others as they pray, read, sing, and lead. We are aiming for a one hour gathering. An invitation to log on will be sent out the first of next week with instructions how to use Zoom on your device.
Secondly, I would like to invite you to join us, in a fasting and prayer time, each Wednesday at noon, starting next week April 22, 2020. We will be replacing our lunch time with a prayer time to seek the Lord and call out to Him on behalf of a hurting world. This can happen wherever you happen to be each Wednesday.
For some of us, this time up till now, may have felt like a sort of vacation. But for many, and really all of is, it isn’t. These are serious times with devastating implications for many. We want to pray for business owners, the unemployed, and those struggling to make ends meet. We want to pray for front line workers who labour in spite of the threats. We want to pray for spiritual renewal. God is using this time as a spiritual wake up call; both to His church and to an unbelieving world that He died for.

For years we have made the following statement, “The Church it is not a building, it is a people.” This is what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:16, "Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” You and I are the church! We are a family bound together because of our love for Christ. Yes, meeting together is important. We encourage and challenge one another. We corporately worship the Lord when we gather. Right now we are having to find creative methods of connecting because of the present Social distancing measures. Phone calls, zoom meetings, social media, and old fashioned notes and cards may not be ideal but they sure help.
We are called as believers to love one another. Our Canadian ethos is tolerance but we are not to just tolerate but to love. After all these years I still feel very inadequate at being a good friend, or being a good family member. I confess that I am such a doer, that it is difficult for me to put my schedule in low gear to build relationships. I have always struggled putting life in ‘Park” to nurture my relationship with Christ. Maybe now more than ever we are being challenged to reach out to one another and be the Church. To live with the knowledge that we have our faith in Christ in common. We may not be meeting physically right now but we can connect, to one another and to our Lord! Keep On! Bert

It has been said that, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” I don’t know about invention, but these isolation measures are certainly pushing us out of our comfort zones, and causing us to seek alternative ways to communicate and connect. Yesterday we held our first, 'Facebook Live' mini-service. There were 468 live log ins. (We are open to your critiques. Go easy on us. Ha.).
I am seeing what we already know in our hearts. What is messy often leads to focus and clarity. Not meeting together is far from ideal, yet by not meeting, we have become open to new methods to connect. I am thinking about a quote from Pastor Kevin Myers from 12Stone Church, "When it feels like things are falling apart, they are simply falling in place for God.” I like the quote/I hate the quote. God uses the messy stuff to challenge us. I don’t like the messy stuff but I find I become more dependent the Lord during those times. I don’t take things for granted and it cultivates gratitude within me. I find God’s peace is in the middle of my storm. I am sitting at my kitchen table finding God’s peace in the middle of this storm right now. I have my Bible open. I am connecting with people by phone and internet. I am writing and planning. Let God be at the centre of your heart, in the centre of this storm!

I have found that the greatest times of personal growth in my life, have taken place during times of trial. I expect that in-spite of the numerous inconveniences and the constant barrage of "more bad news" coming from our newscasters, that God will accomplish new things inside of us if we let Him. (Probably not the way we would have preferred!)
There are a lot of unknowns right now. The pressure on our emotions, relationships, and finances can seem overwhelming at times. Whatever your situation I want you to know that God still wants to build you up. I don't know all that will happen over these next several weeks and months, but I know that I/we can come out of this stronger not weaker. Character is often forged in the fires of life. We are in the centre of some of those fires right now. Let God do His work in you! Keep On! Pastor Bert
